Exporting Translated Files
Once your translation is complete (or at any point during the process), you can export your work back into the original file format.
How to Export
- Select a file in the sidebar that you want to export.
- In the bottom status bar, choose the output format from the format selector. Available formats depend on the source file type.
- Click the Export button (download icon) in the status bar.
- Choose where to save the exported file. Prism generates the translated document with all original formatting preserved.
Supported Export Formats
- DOCX — Word (.docx) — Paragraphs are rebuilt with the translated text.
- XLSX — Excel (.xlsx) — A bilingual spreadsheet is generated with source and target columns, labeled with their respective language codes.
- XLIFF — XLIFF (.xlf, .xliff, .sdlxliff) — Full round-trip fidelity. All metadata, notes, and structural elements from the original file are preserved.
- TXT — Plain Text (.txt) — Segments are joined back into flowing text.
⚠️
Important
Exporting does not modify your original source files. Prism always generates a new file. Your project database and Translation Memory are also unaffected by the export process.
