Import Wizard

The Import Wizard is a guided 3-step process that appears when you open a new project folder (or add new files to an existing one). It ensures your files are properly parsed and your translation environment is correctly configured.

Step 1: Select Files

Prism scans your project folder and lists all supported files. Check the files you want to translate. Supported formats include Word (.docx), Excel (.xlsx), XLIFF/SDLXLIFF (.xlf, .xliff, .sdlxliff), Markdown (.md, .mdx), HTML (.html), JSON (.json), XML (.xml), and plain text (.txt).

Step 2: Configure Languages

Set the source and target languages for your project using ISO 639-1 language codes. Prism automatically detects the source language from your files — verify the detection is correct and select your desired target language. Over 100 languages are supported.

Step 3: Import Resources (Optional)

If your project folder contains Translation Memory (.tmx) or Glossary (.tbx) files, Prism automatically discovers them and lists them here. You can toggle each resource on or off, or import additional files from elsewhere on your computer. This step is entirely optional — you can always add resources later from the sidebar.

Processing

After completing the wizard, Prism parses each selected file into translatable segments. A progress indicator shows the parsing status. Once finished, you are taken directly to the Editor workspace with the first file ready for translation.
